Mysore Airport electricity bill pending for a year

The state government has not released the funds to the Mysore Airport to clear its electricity bills pending from one year.

The airport authorities have to pay Rs 52.6 lakh to the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC).

The airport director has sent communication thrice to the authorities concerned, but nothing has happened. Now, the director has written to Deputy Commissioner D Randeep to take necessary steps in this regard.

Randeep told DH that the government has to pay the bill and the communication from the director has been forwarded to the Infrastructure Development department. “We will pay the bill, once the department releases the funds,” the DC said.

As per the agreement between the state government and Airports Authority of India, the government should take care of the electricity bill and bear the costs of security forces. The agreement, which was renewed in 2015, is valid up to 2020.

An official at the airport said, as the due is pending from a year, the interest on the arrears is growing.
