Woman smuggling gold held at airport

Bengaluru: A woman passenger, who smuggled in four gold biscuits worth over Rs 14 lakh in her rectum, was nabbed at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) after she landed from Dubai early Thursday morning.
Sources at the Air Intelligence Unit of Bengaluru Customs said 48-year-old Poonselvi Narayanakumar, from Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu, arrived by Emirates flight (EK 568) which landed around 3.10am. "We conducted passenger profiling of those who disembarked and found this passenger acting in a suspicious manner," said a customs officer. His team questioned her and examined her luggage after she refused to divulge anything.
Suspecting something was amiss, sleuths grilled her. She then confessed that she was carrying four gold biscuits weighing 466.56 grams in her body.
She was subjected to a body scan which revealed the gold in her body.
Poonselvi, a divorcee, had gone to Dubai a few months ago to work as a domestic help. As she didn't have any luck in getting a steady placement, she decided to try her hand at gold smuggling at the behest of a male acquaintance.
