Air India Celebrates Two-year Anniversary of SFO-Delhi Flight, Honors Top Agents

Fremont: On Nov. 4, during its “Agent Appreciation” event, Air India hosted over 100 travel agents and guests for an evening of cocktails and dinner, which was held at Sakoon restaurant here. The event also doubled up as a celebration of the two-year anniversary of the launch of Air India’s non-stop flights between San Francisco and New Delhi.

“We will complete two years of this service on Dec. 2, 2017,” Neelaj Sharma, district sales manager at Air India, told India-West. “We have been doing very well. The local response has been tremendous. And Air India would like to thank everyone for that.”

Air India, which started this service in 2015 with thrice-weekly flights on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday using three Boeing 777-200 LR aircrafts, increased the frequency to six days a week in 2016 because of the great response and tremendous community support, said Sharma, adding that the airline offers a 3-cabin configuration, first class, business class and economy class.

And travel agents played a significant role in the national carrier’s success, so the evening also saw the ‘Top Producing’ agents being recognized for their service.
The names of the travel agencies and their representatives who were present to accept the honor were: Christine Kao from Maazda Travel; Mylene Tan from Travix; David Chien from GTT International Travel; and Rupesh Velji from SkyBird Travel.
