IndiGo flight survives massive mid-air scare, lives of 170 passengers risked

New Delhi: In an incident that could have proved disastrous for 170 passengers, a Vizag-bound IndiGo aircraft on Wednesday allegedly malfunctioned in mid-air, with smoke coming out of the cockpit.
The flight was returned to Delhi immediately after a full-blown emergency was declared. It was reported that a total of 170 passengers were onboard the IndiGo flight 6E719.
This is not the first time that such an incident has occurred. On the first day of the month, an IndiGo flight survived a mid-air scare when a defective laptop, inside the baggage compartment, almost caught fire.
The incident took place mid-air on flight 6E-445, which was heading to Bengaluru from Thiruvananthapuram. According to media reports, the defective laptop was identified by the cabin crew, soon after it started emitting smoke.
After inspecting and discovering the defective black laptop, placed in the hand baggage, the cabin crew quickly informed the commanding pilot.
In a bid to bring the situation under control, the IndiGo crew safely moved all the passengers sitting close to the seat 24RH where the laptop was found.  Using a fire extinguisher, the cabin crew doused the smoke emanating from the laptop, said the airlines in a statement.
