Kerala to join regional air connectivity scheme soon

New Delhi: The government’s regional air connectivity scheme (RCS) is set to take wings in Kerala with the State government showing interest in signing an agreement with the Ministry of Civil Aviation to provide concessions required for the scheme to be implemented there.

“Officials from Kerala were here. (They said that) a decision has been taken and formal signing will take place any day,” a senior government official told BusinessLine.

The scheme stipulates that the States have to lower the value added tax (VAT) on aviation turbine fuel (ATF) to 1 per cent or less, besides providing security and fire services free of cost and electricity, water and other utilities at substantially concessional rates.
