Runway maintenance: 200 flights to be cancelled daily

New Delhi: Atleast 200 flights will be cancelled everyday for three days on account of maintenance work at one of the three runways at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in the national capital.

As per the available information from Indigo, Vistara and GoAir, a total of 136 daily flights will be called off. However, numbers of other three carriers were not available.

As per experts, a total of 200 flights will be cancelled everyday if the numbers SpiceJet, Air India and Jet Airways are added.

According to Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) which maintains the IGI Airport, “Runway number 11/29 will be closed from 1200 hours on November 7 to 0007 hours on December 10. During this period, the landings and take offs will take place from other two runways i.e. 10/28 and 09/29 and the airport operation capacity will be reduced to 45 flights per hour. Presently, the average flight operation is 67 flights per hour.”

All the airlines are informing the passengers through SMS, social media and others mode of communication.
