Selfie-takers at Lohegaon airport may attract fines

Pune: Selfies and photos at the Pune airport, which is part of a defence facility, may soon attract fines.
Officials of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which provides security to the airport, have said that while the decision of levying fines on passengers taking photographs lies with the airport operator — in this case the Airports Authority of India (AAI) — the issue would be discussed with all stakeholders at the Airport Security Committee (APSC) meeting.
Replying to a query posted on AirSewa, Ajay Kumar, AIG, airport sector at the CISF, said, "The matter of imposing fines for taking photographs in the operational area pertains to the airport operator. However, the same will be discussed with all stakeholders in the coming APSC meeting. Pune airport, being a defence airport, bans photography in sensitive locations and in the airside due to security reasons. Regular announcements are made by concerned airlines at the time of boarding and in-flight by the pilots. Signboards regarding the prohibition of photography are also placed in the terminal building, the boarding gates and in the apron area."
