Trip to Amsterdam in limbo as Jet Airways delays family's flight

A Pune-based software engineer' leisurely Amsterdam trip along with his family turned into one of the greatest nightmares, thanks to Jet Airways.
Thirty-year-old Kumar Ranjan, who works for a software company in Amsterdam, had come to Pune for a vacation. Little did he know that his journey back to the Netherlands' capital will be a harrowing one. Ranjan had taken the Pune to Amsterdam flight via Delhi. He was travelling with his wife and 16- month-old baby. Their Jet Airways flight (9W372) was not only delayed by one entire day, but the family had to also face ill-treatment by the airline staffers.

Recalling the tormenting experience, Kumar told Mirror, "I am originally from Pune, but currently based in Amsterdam. My family had come to Pune as I had taken leaves from work and we had a return flight scheduled on November 3. I was accompanied by my wife and our 16-month-old baby. Our flight was meant to take off from Pune to Delhi at 8.15 pm and the connecting one to Amsterdam was scheduled to leave on November 4 at 2.40 am. However, our Pune to Delhi flight itself got delayed by 30 minutes and later it finally took off at 12.30 am. The worst part was that there was no proper communication at the airport with the Jet Airways' ground staff. When passengers started complaining about their connecting flights from Delhi, they started making excuses and offered us an alternate flight to Amsterdam from Delhi via Frankfurt which was at 3.30 am. As Pune to Delhi flight was already delayed, it was impossible to catch the alternative one. So, we asked for the next day's flight as well as accommodation in Pune."

According to Kumar, the staff denied accommodation to the helpless family. He continued, "The staff said that since they were offering an alternate flight, they won't be able to provide us accommodation. With no other option left, we took the Delhi flight, but as anticipated, we missed the connecting one. There were a lot of passengers like us at the airport facing the same issue. We all rushed to the Jet Airways' counter at Delhi airport, seeking a solution. But, the staff had no clue how to handle the situation."
Fortunately, Kumar and his family were given hotel accommodation after landing at Delhi airport around 3 am. They were also provided an alternate flight to Amsterdam via Mumbai which was scheduled at 9.45 pm
