Woman detailked for carying live bullets at airport

Bhopal: A Mumbai-based woman was detained after she was found carrying four live cartridges at Raja Bhoj airport in the morning on Tuesday; she was scheduled to board a Mumbai-bound Air India flight.

A woman passenger identified as Shweta Maane was detained by CISF personnel during security check after cartridges were found in her bag.

Soon after the woman was found carrying cartridges, security alert was sounded and security was tighten checking was intensified.

The nabbed woman was handed over to Gandhi Nagar police station. During questioning, she told the police that her grandfather worked as policeman in Goa and was awarded with the cartridges which she was carrying.

Her grandfather died and the cartridges remained in her bag and that were found at the air port.

She had come to the city to attend a marriage and was scheduled to return by train but as she was not able to get reservation confirmed, she booked a flight ticket through Air India.

The police have registered a case under sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act against Shweta on the charge of carrying cartridges without license and have started to verify the details provided by her.
