Women’s panel hauls up Air India Express

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Women’s Commission (KSWC) on Tuesday ordered the internal complaint committee of the Air India Express to report whether the captain of a flight had sexually harassed a woman attendant.

The firm has 15 days to comply with the commission’s demand. KSWC chairperson M.C. Josephine also ordered the State police to file a report on the status of the complaint filed by the woman against the pilot at the Valiathura police station here last week.

The flight attendant had accused the local police of inexplicably deferring action on the complaint.

She aired her grievances at a closed-door hearing held by the KSWC here on Monday.

The airline staff also produced documents, which she said pointed to other instances of sexual harassment.

She said her aggressor, the captain of the flight, pressured her to write flight reports as he dictated.

Moreover, he attempted to shame her in a professional WhatsApp group, she said.

He even denied her access to the toilet or refreshment cabin during long flights, she alleged.
