Amar Singh for action against Jet Airways

In the ongoing Winter Session of Parliament on Tuesday, Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh raised the issue of aircraft safety, especially in Jet Airways, and sought answers from Union Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju.

At about 5 pm, Singh called the issue to attention and said, “I would like to draw the attention of the House to the functioning of Jet Airways aircraft. Lately, they have been involved in several incidents of ground collision, tail strike, reports of pilots coming in late for duty, inordinate delays in flights, and in general, causing great inconvenience to passengers.” He added that these instances had often been reported in press, but no action had been taken against the management.

“Attention is also invited to the audit report of United Nations aviation watchdog, which has placed our country’s aviation sector in the list of its 13 worst performing nations. This has been ruinous to the country’s aviation sector  image, so I request the minister to inform the House about the remedial steps taken in the matter against Jet Airways and their management.”
