Customs official, shop manager injured in tussle

The Trivandrum International Airport witnessed dramatic incidents on Thursday evening as the manager of a duty-free shop here tried to manhandle officials of the Customs and Central GST, who were trying to conduct a raid in his shop.
According to sources, the manager of the shop as well as an official of the customs suffered injuries in a tussle that broke out between the two.
The officials of Central GST, Customs Preventive Units from Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram were here to raid the shop based on information that the manager of the shop was involved in tax evasion in tune to around Rs 2 crore. According to customs sources, the tussle broke out when the officials were interrogating the shop manager.
They had found out that the shop had issued several bills in the name of same passport holders. During the interrogation, the manager turned violent and tried to push away the officials. In melee, he fell down and got injured . The customs official too suffered injuries.
