Draft rules on unmanned aircraft: DGCA asks aeromodellers to file joint protest

Mumbai: The aeromodelling fraternity, which had lodged a strong protest against the Director General of Civil Aviation's new draft policy for Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), have been asked by the DGCA chief B S Bhullar to submit a joint representation to the aviation regulator by December 15.

The suggestion follows a meeting between Wing India chairperson and one of the aeromodelling pioneers Umesh More and Aeromodelling Association of Gurgaon Sandip Jain with Bhullar last week.

During the meeting, Bhullar said DGCA had received over 3,000 representations regarding the new policy, and suggested that they make a representation under the aegis of Aero Club of India to consider amendments.
