Fog effect: Three flights cancelled, 5 delayed

Mohali: Flight operations continued to be disrupted for the third consecutive day as three flights were cancelled and five flights delayed due to poor visibility at the Chandigarh international airport today.
Passengers were stranded for hours as flight operations were hit due to inclement weather conditions and fog.
Air India’s Bangkok flight arrived 30 minutes late, at 9.50 am, with 86 passengers on board.
Airport officials said the IndiGo flight to Delhi was late by two hours and a half and Air India’s flight to Pune was delayed by 2 hours and 42 minutes. Visibility was poor in the morning as the first four flights were either cancelled or rescheduled.
Sources said visibility only improved around 10 am.
The first flight to depart from the airport, Air India’s Chandigarh-Delhi flight, had to be cancelled and would remain suspended till December 20. SpiceJet’s flight to Delhi was cancelled while Air India’s Pune-Chandigarh-Mumbai flight, which has a scheduled departure time of 3.30 pm, was cancelled due to runway closure.
