Trichy: Customs authorities seized Rs 19 lakh worth of gold foil from a passenger who arrived at Trichy airport from Dubai by Air India Express.
According to customs authorities, while they were checking the belongings of the passengers of Air Indian Express flight during the wee hours on Saturday, they developed suspicion over the activities of a passenger.
While he was interrogated by the officials, he was identified as Ibrahim of Chennai. When his baggage was scanned by the officials, they came to know that he had concealed gold foils worth Rs 19 lakh in his suitcase.
