Lockheed Martin inspires girls to fly

Visakhapatnam: Nearly 50 girl students of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Ramanath Secondary School on Wednesday witness operations at the Visakhapatnam airport. Almost half the students expressed a desire to take the aviation sector as a career. Global aerospace company Lockheed Martin teamed up with Women in Aviation India Chapter (WAIC) and Airports Authority of India (AAI) to showcase oppo-rtunities in the aviation and aerospace sectors.

Lockheed Martin chief executive Phil Shaw said there were no boundaries to innovation and girls could explore careers in aviation and aerospace. The students met representatives from the aviation industry and discussed career prospects in engineering and aviation. Lockheed Martin has partnered with organisations like Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Tata Trusts to mentor start-ups by providing seed fund through the India Innovation Growth Programme.
