YEIDA to revive Metro link to Jewar airport

Greater Noida:  The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is all set to revive the high-speed Metro project between Greater Noida and the international airport that is to come up at Jewar.
On Friday, a committee headed by Officer was set up by officer on special duty, Shailender Bhatia to study the feasibility of the proposal and to appoint Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to prepare a techno-economic feasibility report (TEFR) along with a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed corridor. The proposal is to link sector 20 in YEIDA area to Jewar near the sanctioned international airport.
According to YEIDA officials, a meeting of the committee, which includes officials from YEIDA's planning department is scheduled to be held early next week. "The committee will mull over our past proposals for providing connectivity to the sanctioned airport near Jewar," said Arun Vir Singh, CEO, YEIDA.
"After this, we will seek an approval from the Board this month before formally informing DMRC to take our proposal further on track by preparing its feasibility and thereafter a DPR," Singh told TOI. The authority CEO said, "The population in Greater Noida and YEIDA is set to increase considerably. Besides, several new housing schemes are also in the pipeline. Considering the sanctioned international airport will be in place by 2023 and that thousands of more people will inhabit the area, the Metro link will prove very useful. It will also serve the several proposed residential, industrial and IT units along the expressway."
