Three businessmen were arrested from West Delhi for allegedly harassing a woman on an airborne flight while travelling from Bengaluru to Delhi.
According to officials, the men were repeatedly trying to sit in the vacant seats next to the woman and when the crew members asked them to return to their assigned seats, the men started attacking the woman verbally.
Adding that the incident took place on January 16, a police official said that after the men started hurling abuses at the female passenger the flight's pilot was informed and he called the control room at Delhi airport.
According to reports, the control room received the call around 11:50 pm, 15 minutes prior to the landing of the SpiceJet flight SG 198 from Bengaluru.
After the pilot's call, a CISF team reached the Delhi airport bay and escorted the passengers as airline security handed over the passengers to Delhi police around 1 am.
DCP (airport) Sanjay Bhatia said, " A case was registered under section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of IPC."
