DIAL to meet airlines on Monday to discuss Republic Day closure

Two days after issuing a notice cancelling over 100 flights a day in the run up to the Republic Day, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) has called a meeting of airlines on Monday to discuss the issue.

In an e-mail to airlines sent today morning, DIAL has called a meeting, which will be chaired by COO of DIAL, to discuss the issue of cancellation of flights.

ET has reported today that Delhi airport has told airlines that it will be closed for an hour and 45 minutes daily between January 18 and 26 and that flights during the period — 10:30 am to 12:15 pm — will have to be cancelled.

It's estimated this will mean the cancellation of more than 100 domestic flights a day during the Republic Day airspace closure period, which has also been expanded to nine days, from six, this year.
