If you don't know about this Air India rule, you could end up losing your entire air ticket fare.
As a customer when you buy any product or service, it is the duty of the seller or seller's agent to explain at least the most important information at the point of sales or be upfront with those policies with the customer.
The seller should also quickly try to resolve the issue whenever such a situation arises, however, Air India and its agent "ticketstoIndia" seems to operate otherwise and are not bothered by any complaint.
Beware if you buy an Air India ticket because if for any reason you miss your departure journey, not only Air India will refuse you a refund but would also not allow you to use your return ticket even though you have paid for it.
Are you shocked? Well, that is a fact and happened when ticket holder no. 098 5117349963-H8T2F booked his return ticket with travel agent ticketstoindia.co.uk from London to Delhi and needed to prepone his tickets because of sudden ill health of his mother.
Even though the passenger after reaching India informed and confirmed both on social media and also via email to Air India customer care in advance that he can't use his scheduled 7th January London to Delhi flight since he has already flown on the 3rd January and will use his return ticket as scheduled, however, Air India still cancelled his return ticket stating that change in sequence of travel is not permitted.
This means if you miss your departure flight for any reason you would lose money for your return flight as well even though you have paid for it. This is such an important term but is never explained upfront either by the travel agent TicketstoIndia or Air India at the point of selling. Is it fair and ethical?
Also the travel agent ticketstoindia.co.uk and Air India never state clearly that if you need to change the first departure journey date, the change can cost almost the price of whole return ticket around $400.
