Kannur international airport to boost tourism in Karnataka

Mysuru: Tourism industry in Mysuru and Kodagu is lookingforwared for further in tourist footfall, thanks to greenfieldKannur International Airport in North Kerala, which will beinaugurated for flight operations shortly.
Stakeholders here say that the airport will open a new gatewayfor tourism development as Kodagu is closer to Kannur and eventuallyimprove connectivity between the two States boosting tourism.

Kerala's fourth international airport, at Kannur, that isexpected to serve more than 1.5 million passengers annually, is setto begin trial flight operations in January and become fullyoperational by September 2018.

This is in comparison to 165 km route to Mysuru and 300 km toKodagu when the passenger travels from Kempegowda BengaluruInternational Airport (KIA).

With the opening of Kannur International Airport Ltd (KIAL),Kerala will be the only state in the country to have fourinternational airports with the others at Thiruvananthapuram, Kochiand Kozhikode.
