Navi Mumbai:The state government has expedited the shifting of about 3500 families from the core area of the 1160 hectares of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).
The shifting of the residents from the 10 villages of the core airport area would help in speeding up the operations and meeting the airport deadline fixed at December, 2019.
"The Chief Secretary held a meeting with the task force on Wednesday and approved the scheme by Cidco and issued the letter on Thursday," said Cidco Joint Managing Director Prajakta Lavangare Verma.
The task force has been constituted to monitor the progress of the airport project.
"The CM had suggested the MD on January 8 to work out an incentive scheme for expediting the rehabilitation of PAPs," the joint MD said.
Cidco has worked out a scheme with different monetary scheme for deadlines till May end with an estimated outgoing of additional Rs 140 crore. The incentive is in addition to the rehabilitation package.
