The biggest airport in India to come up in Yogi Adityanath’s Uttar Pradesh soon; know all details

Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has revealed that the sprawling Jewar International airport will be “India’s biggest,” as reported by Hindustan Times. Yesterday, officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Airports Authority of India had visited the site of the airport to assess the progress of the project. The proposal to build an International airport was cleared in Uttar Pradesh last year. Uttar Pradesh is currently being ruled by a BJP dispensation under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The chairman of YEIDA, Dr Prabhat Kumar had posted the assessment news on Twitter regarding the Civil Aviation officials visit. In his Tweet, YEIDA chairman, said, “Secretary Civil Aviation GOI with officers of MoCA & AAI visited #YEIDA to discuss the progress of #Jewarairport, visited airport site & appreciated the progress made & timelines set by us. Grateful to him for advising very valuable n futuristic suggestions.” This will be the second airport in the national capital region and is expected to be ready in the next five years. A discussion was also held on the lines of connecting Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport with Jewar airport, and a consultant is to be appointed to do a technological feasibility test.

The airport in Greater Noida will be developed in four phases, out of which, the first phase will be developed in 1,000 hectares, which will cost Rs 2,000 crore. The cabinet had given its approval for the development of the airport. The airport is expected to cater almost 30-50 million passengers per year over the next 10-15 years.Indira Gandhi International Airport handles around 63 million passengers every year. The Civil aviation ministry expects the project to boost the tourism and enhance the economic potential of the Western Uttar Pradesh. This airport is supposed to address the aviation needs of cities like Agra, Mathura, Bulandshahr and Meerut. The proposal for the airport was made in 2001 under the supervision of then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Rajnath Singh. Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government is also working on the ways to improve the road conditions and setting multi-model transport facilities.
