Airbus postpones A320 Neo deliveries; IndiGo, GoAir to be impacted

Plane maker Airbus has postponed the deliveries of its A320 Neo planes indefinitely, potentially impacting schedules of Indian customers IndiGo and Go Air.

IndiGo and GoAir are the earliest adopters and currently the largest users—accounting for more than 40%--of the GTF engine-powered Airbus A320 Neo planes.

They together operate close to 40 of the planes and have more than 450 pending deliveries.

"Product Safety Boards of PW and Airbus post evaluating the PW1100G-JM engine issue decided that All neo deliveries are postponed till further notice," said IndiGo in a statement.

"Airbus and Pratt are working in close cooperation and will be swiftly communicating on the way forward to regain normal operations and resume aircraft deliveries. Meanwhile IndiGo continues to expect to receive a number of Airbus A320ceos (the older version of the plane) and ATR aircraft this year to fuel its growth," the airline added.
