Airport staff to be trained in tackling emergencies

Pune:The airport authorities here are emphasizing on frequent emergency response plan trainings to ensure all stakeholders are prepared to deal with situations such as aircraft skidding on runways or a sudden tyre burst while landing.
“The training focuses on ways to deal with emergency and minimise its effects. It is also done to fix the duties and responsibilities of officials in different types of emergencies,” an official at the Pune airport said.
It was important to constantly brief the stakeholders, including Airports Authority of India officials and airline authorities, about the dos and don’ts during an emergency.
“We also brief them about plane crashes and bird-hits. Often, chaos follows an emergency. In such a scenario, each department and stakeholder should know what to do and stick to it. Once that happens, the rescue work can be executed without any hiccups,” the official said.
