Holidaymakers visiting Maldives from India is expected to reach and cross 100,000 in early 2018.
Tourism Ministry statistics confirm Indian tourist visits had reached 83,019 by end of December 2017 while a year earlier, in 2016 Maldives was visited by a total of 66,955 Indian holidaymakers - marking a 24% increase.
The exclusive count for December from India had reached to 12,647 in 2017.
On average Indian tourist count per month had stayed between 2,000 to 5,000 during last year while it is expected for the count to reach approximately 100,000 during the first quarter of 2018.
Earlier Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has participated in One-world Travel Market (OTM) fair hosted at India. A total of 15 corporations with 22 representatives promoted Maldivian tourism at the fair.
While Indian tourists are increasing considerably another airline of the country is prepping to establish flights between Maldives. The budget 'Go Air' has requested for permission from Civil Aviation for their commencement of flights to the country.
