Bareilly: City residents will have to wait for another six to eight months before they can take a flight from Nath Nagari civil enclave here as the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has said that construction of a taxiway and setting up of a porta cabin will take time once they secure all clearances from different departments.
Additional general manager of AAI Avnish Khairnar told TOI, “Porta cabin can be set up within 15 to 20 days but until the taxiway is constructed, we cannot start flights from here. After getting all clearance from the ministries of civil aviation and defence as well as from the Air Force, it will take a minimum of six months to complete all construction work.”
It would take at least six to eight months for a flight to take off from here, he said. Khairnar had come to the city along with another officer, KL Verma, to take stock of the progress at the civil enclave.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, administrative authority completed registry work for land acquisition. The administration has purchased an additional 3,285 square metre of land from 10 farmers recently for constructing the taxiway. The additional land was required after the IAF asked AAI to change the alignment of the taxiway due to security reasons.
