The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the Mumbai Customs today arrested a passenger with foreign currencies worth Rs 1.25 crore at the city airport.
Mohammed Upletwala was arrested before he could board a flight to Hongkong, an AIU official said.
The official said they recovered USD 2 lakh, HKD (Hong Kong Dollar) 1260, and 730 Chinese Yuan, collectively equivalent to Rs 1.25 crore in Indian currency, from Upletwala.
The currencies were recovered after officials checked two trolley bags and a laptop bag being carried by Upletwala, the official said.
