IndiGo’s Airbus 320 neo aircraft grounded due to technical snag

New Delhi: The problem with Airbus 320 (neos) with old series engines continues to plague services. The latest one to be grounded is an IndiGo aircraft, which was grounded in New Delhi this morning due to a technical snag.
“Today morning IndiGo’s Airbus 320 (neo) (VT ITX) was grounded at Delhi due to oil chip detected in the number one engine. The aircraft operated (6E 132) Bangalore-Delhi and was grounded in Delhi,” said a source in the know.

This is the fourth case of Indigo Neo engine failure in the past few days, the source added.

IndiGo said in a statement that the aircraft was grounded proactively withdrawn due to a technical snag.

“An A320 neo aircraft that operated Bangalore-Delhi today morning was proactively withdrawn in Delhi for a maintenance check to attend to a Pilot Reported Defect. These maintenance checks are part of a comprehensive program of early detection. During the maintenance check, metal chips were observed on # 1 Engine, # 3 Bearing Chip detector, which is a known concern on the Neo engine,” the airline said in a statement.
