International Women's Day: Air India to operate flights with all-women crew on select routes

New Delhi: To mark the occasion of International Women's Day on March 8, Air India has announced that it would operate flights with all-women cockpit and cabin crew as part of its celebrations to commemorate the global day for gender parity, the airline said. In a statement, the national carrier said that several flights on the domestic and international routes were scheduled to be operated by an all-women's crew only on Thursday.
"The national carrier has planned several flights on its domestic and international sectors operated only by its women employees to salute woman power. Air India will fly these all-women crew flights to all the USA cities it operates to - San Francisco, New York, Newark, Chicago and Washington DC - besides destinations like Milan, Frankfurt and Singapore. A few destinations in the domestic sector will also see the airline operating with an all-women crew,” the press release by the airline said, as per a report by The Economic Times.

In a bid to "salute woman power" and to encourage women to have an "equal standing in the activities of the airline", Air India has also organised several women-related events throughout its network, the press statement said.
