Air Deccan To Start Operations On These Flights From May 1

An Air Deccan flight from Agartala, Tripura, landed at the Umroi Airport (Shillong, Meghalaya) on Thursday. The flight was operated on a trial run basis by Air Deccan, which in December last year restarted scheduled air services after a gap of nearly a decade. Thursday's flight from Agartala to Shillong is part of the government's regional connectivity scheme UDAN or 'Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik' (flight for every citizen of the nation). The Agartala-Shillong flight was operated by an 18-seater B190 aircraft, manufactured by US-based Beechcraft. Air Deccan also operated test flights to Agartala and Dimapur on the same day.

1. Air Deccan will begin commercial operations from May 1 under the regional air connectivity scheme, news agency IANS cited an airline official as saying. "Bookings for the same are open," the official said.
2. A search on the Air Deccan bookings portal on Friday showed tickets for flights from Agartala to Shillong from May 1 were available at Rs. 1,720.
3. Air Deccan in December 2017 operated its maiden flight under the regional air connectivity scheme. With that, the airline started services on the Mumbai- Jalgaon route. The carrier received the scheduled commuter operator (SCO) permit in the same month, according to news agency Press Trust of India.
4. Under the 'Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik' (UDAN) scheme, the Shillong airport will be connected with Agartala, Aizawl, Dimapur, Imphal and Silchar.
