Chennai suburban lad delights in ‘plane spotting’

Chennai: The fascination for flights is synonymous with childhood, so to say. But not many of us actually go on to pursue a career in exploring the same. However, here is someone who took his aviation interest a notch higher and is now excelling in the said field.

Meet S Srivatsan, a resident of Durga Nagar, at Chrompet in the city suburbwho is a ‘plane spotter’, as he calls himself on social media.

Speaking to News Today, he says, “I had a liking towards aeroplanes right from my childhood. After my class 12, I wanted to give life to my interest and began clicking pictures of the same.”

Currently pursuing his second year B.Sc in Aviation, he states, “The best place in the city for flight photoshoots is the viewing gallery located inside the city’s international airport in Tirusulam. Visitors are allowed in this area and are charged Rs 100 for every two hours.”

The gallery gives an up-close view of the airport apron, where varied activities ranging from cargo loading and offloading, pre-flights inspections and re-fuelling, are done.

“The perfect time for shoots is between 6 and 10.30 am. We can get a glimpse of a good number of international flights, which make for pretty sights,” he notes.
His move to put up his work on social media like Instagram and Flickr, proved beneficial as it landed him two hot deals in the beginning of this year.
