Mumbai airport to be shut for six hours on April 9, 10 for maintenance work

Mumbai: The Mumbai airport will be closed for flight operations on April 9 and 10, 2018. The closure is being done to carry out maintenance work between 11 am and 5 pm.

Officials from the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) had said earlier that a maintenance of Instrument Landing System (ILS) is being conducted. "Airport will be shut for six hours on April 9, 10 and October 23 for maintenance on runway intersection," an official had been quoted as saying by ANI.

Passengers who are travelling on these days can expect a message from airlines concerned intimating them about the flight rescheduling.
In March 2018, the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport both were adjudged joint-best in the world by Airports Council International in the 'over 40 million passengers annually' category for the year 2017. This category includes the world's most awarded airports like Changi (Singapore), Incheon (South Korea) and Bangkok airports.
The Mumbai airport had made it to the top spot for the first time and was also awarded for customer excellence. It is managed by GVK-run MIAL.
