An Indian Air Force chopper with Bambi bucket has been deployed today from the Palam Airport to release water in order to contain the Malviya Nagar fire.
A massive fire broke out in a truck which rapidly spread to a rubber godown in Malviya Nagar, Delhi, on Tuesday evening. The fire has still not been doused.
"We have launched a Mi 17 helicopter for Bambi operations from Palam to try and contain fire at Malviya Nagar godown," the Indian Air Force said. The exercise has been done thrice to contain the fire.
The chopper will then fly to a lake 10km away from Malviya Nagar to refill water.
