Bid to connect popular tourist spots by air

The Ministries of Civil Aviation and Tourism will jointly develop a strategy to improve air connectivity to popular tourist destinations, like the temples of Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh and cave monuments of Ajanta and Ellora in Maharashtra, according to a senior government official.

The officials of the two Ministries will also discuss if airlines would be offered subsidy or incentive to connect these tourist destinations.

They will finalise a plan within 15 days, the official of the Ministry of Civil Aviation added.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Alphons requested for Air India flights to Khajuraho, enhanced connectivity to the holy city of Varanasi and to Aurangabad for access to Ajanta and Ellora apart from ways to inter-connect Kochi, Goa and Jaipur – the three places being a must visit for many international tourists.
