'Blast' call headache for airport

Bhubaneswar: An unidentified person allegedly made several calls to the official landline of Biju Patnaik International Airport, threatening to trigger a blast in the area.

Though the airport authorities suspect the calls as hoax, police have started an investigation prior to the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is scheduled to arrive at the airport on Saturday.

Airport director S.C. Hota said the caller had been identifying himself as one "Mr Parida" from Khandagiri.

"He has been calling on the landline number of my office for the last four days and abusing my personal secretary. He is also enquiring for flight tickets to smuggle ganja and drugs. We have lodged a complaint at Airfield police station," said Hota.
