CISF nab passenger with 10 kg of marijuana at MIA

Mangaluru: Personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on duty at Mangaluru International Airport, during a random check of passengers at the departure entry gate, detected 10-kg of marijuana in the possession of a Doha-bound passenger on Friday. The passenger had concealed the marijuana inside three pumpkins. He was scheduled to depart on board the flight to Doha at 5.35pm and was nabbed 80 minutes prior, at the gate.
Sources told TOI that the accused is Kalai Tasleem, who hails from Kalai, who was scheduled to board an Air India flight. “Tasleem was carrying the marijuana for his customers abroad,” the sources said, adding the estimated value of the ganja seized is Rs 1.5 lakh. The accused was handed over to the Customs for further action, the sources added.
