Jet Airways says Sebi has sought reply on complaint against airline

Mumbai: Jet Airways has in a communication to the Bombay Stock Exchange said India's capital markets regulator the Securities and Exchange Board of India forwarded it a complaint on April 30, whose contents are similar to a recent news item that alleged money siphoning over Rs 5,000 crore by the airline's promoter Naresh Goyal.
SEBI has sought views/recommendations of the airline's statutory auditors and the audit committee of the company on the same. The airline said it has "already taken necessary steps in this regard as directed by SEBI and is in communication with SEBI in the matter,".
The article, published by an online news portal on Tuesday, alleged that Goyal has siphoned away Rs 5,279 crore from Jet Airways and its subsidiary JetLite for personal gains at the cost of minority shareholders through several related party transactions between them and his own companies in and outside India. The article also alleged he has indulged in "window dressing of financials through manipulative means like change in method of depreciation and lease back transactions etc"
Earlier this morning, the BSE sought a clarification on the news item. Jet disclosed the SEBI's April 30 complaint in its response to the clarification. It has said the news article "contains unsubstantiated allegations".
