Tamil Nadu govt to cut VAT on aviation fuel at Coimbatore airport

Coimbatore:  The Tamil Nadu government will slash value-added tax (VAT) on aviation fuel at Coimbatore International Airport to increase connectivity from here during late night and early morning, said chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday.
At present, the government is charging 29% VAT on aviation fuel. It would be reduced to 1% to attract airlines to Coimbatore airport, he said. However, he didnAirports May 2018 Airports May 2018 ’t reveal when his government would implement the tax concession.
The state government is charging only 1% VAT on aviation fuel at Salem airport. The state government is planning to cut VAT on aviation fuel at Madurai and Trichy airports, according sources.
The Coimbatore airport is handling 40 arrivals and 40 departures (including international flights) daily.
