Air Deccan's Agra-Delhi flight may not arrive at all in the city

Agra: In what could be termed as yet another joke played on Agra's aviation possibilities, the Air Deccan flight that is supposed to land at the Agra Airport to fly the Agra-Delhi sector on June 14, may not arrive at all.

According to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) sources at the Kheria Airport in Agra, the operational clearance and itinerary of the flight has not arrived at the Agra Airport yet and there has been no communication from the Air Deccan headquarters in Delhi regarding the flight's arrival on June 14.

This could mean that the flight will not be operating on Thursday.

The flight, which has been announced by Air Deccan to operate between Agra and Delhi six-days a week, has already been fully booked from June 14-16, but with the flight's operations being in doubt, questions are being raised by the local tourism industry about the repeated jokes being played on the city's residents through flights that either run for a couple of months before stopping or don't start operating at all.

Talking to India Today, Agra Tourist Welfare Chamber president Prahalad Agarwal said that this will not be the first time when a flight from Agra has been announced with much fanfare, but then has been shut down.

He said that the city has seen several flights in the past few years, including Agra-Goa, Agra-Mumbai, Agra-Jaipur and more, that were started and were seeing healthy bookings from the city, but they were shut down without citing any reasons.
