Chennai: A suspected bird hit forced a Chennai-Delhi Air India flight (AI 440) to return around 20 minutes after taking off from Chennai airport on Wednesday. The A321 aircraft took off at 6.47am with 130 passengers. It climbed to 6,000 feet and was cruising at 500kmph over Gummidipoondi area when there was a suspected bird hit.
Sources said that the pilot requested for a return and asked for priority landing. The flight landed safely. The aircraft was grounded for inspection.
