Airports agency proposes 74% cut in Kempegowda International Airport user fee

Bengaluru: Passengers using the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) are likely to get a major relief as the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) has proposed a 74% cut in the user development fee (UDF) on both international and domestic flights.
Currently, passengers pay a UDF of Rs 1,226 for international, and Rs 306 for domestic flights. The AERA has proposed that this be reduced to Rs 316.8 and Rs 79.2, for international and domestic flights, respectively.
If all the stakeholders—Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), various airlines and government agencies—also agree with the proposal the new rates will be in place up to March 31, 2020.
AERA will conduct a stakeholders’ consultation meeting in Bengaluru on June 18 and a final decision on the tariff will be taken based on all the inputs. The meeting will also discuss landing, parking and housing charges imposed by BIAL on airlines, which the AERA recommends to reduce by up to 90%.
