Fliers spend 6 excurciating hours inside plane

Ahmedabad: Passengers on an Amsterdam-Mumbai flight that was diverted to Ahmedabad endured an annoying six hour wait inside the aircraft on Saturday after flying 12 hours between the two destinations. What made the wait excruciating was that passengers were not allowed to de-board the flight at the Ahmedabad Airport despite the long wait.

Jet Airways flight 9W 231 departed on time from Amsterdam at 11.39am and was scheduled to reach Mumbai Airport at 11.45pm. The flight was diverted to Ahmedabad Airport around midnight on Saturday. An announcement was made that the flight was being diverted to Ahmedabad for fueling.

A researcher from Ahmedabad who had taken the flight said, "It was a horrible experience as passengers were made to wait inside the aircraft between 12 midnight to 6am on Sunday at Ahmedabad Airport. No explanations were given apart from an announcement that the flight was in Ahmedabad for fueling." A few passengers also shared their views about the agonizing wait on micro blogging sites.
Passengers said it had become a suffocating wait after a couple of hours inside the aircraft.

There were children on board who kept crying constantly. Sources associated with flight movement told Mirror there was a major congestion at Mumbai Airport on Saturday evening. Passengers between Mumbai and Ahmedabad too had a tough time waiting at the Mumbai Airport for hours for their flights to be scheduled.

When Mirror contacted Jet Airways for comment, they shared a statement on cancellation of Mumbai-Ahmedabad flight due to technical reason.
