Madurai: Customs air intelligence unit officials at Madurai airport seized gold bars and gold wires, weighing around 800 grams and worth Rs 24.48 lakh, from a passenger who arrived here from Dubai on a SpiceJet flight on Monday evening.
The accused has been identified as Mohamed Haleem,40, of Ramanathapuram. Based on suspicion, a team of customs officials led by assistant commissioner Venkatesh Babu stopped him. They checked his hand bag and found gold bars and gold wires concealed in it.
