Kolkata: A major mid-air mishap was averted on an Indigo flight flying from Kolkata to Bengaluru on Sunday after the pilot discovered a crack in the windshield of the aircraft. The flight had to return to Kolkata where it made an emergency landing at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport. As per reports, flight 6E-345 made a safe landing at 10:34 am on Sunday morning. The ATS had declared “local standby” at the airport to facilitate the landing, reports said.
All 178 passengers onboard the flight were said to be safe. The airline has reportedly not commented on the incident for now. In fact, on June 17, a similar such mid-air scare was experienced by passengers flying in two flights of SpiceJet and one of Indigo in Patna. As per reports, the three planes suffered bird hits over the Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport, following which the aircrafts had reportedly experienced heavy turbulence.
Indigo had to cancel its flight its return flight to Delhi following the incident. The flight that was cancelled due to the mishap was 6E508.
