Muck, water welcome flyers at Surat airport

Surat: Even as Surat airport has been designated as the immigration checkpost, the passenger amenities have gone for a toss.
A picture has gone viral on social media, where passengers boarding an aircraft had to walk through a pool of water and mud at the airport tarmac after city witnessed heavy rain on Monday.
The picture was taken by one of the passenger boarding the SpiceJet flight on Monday and posted it on Instagram. The picture went viral from Instagram to other social media, including Facebook and Whatsapp, inviting anger from people in the city.
RTI activist Rajesh Modi posted the picture on Twitter and tagged SpiceJet to provide bus service to passengers from the departure area to the airport tarmac in order to ensure that they have a safe entry into the plane without wading in mud and water and getting wet in the rain.
The official Twitter handle of SpiceJet acknowledged the message and reverted saying, “Thanks for notifying. We shall relay the details to the concerned team for necessary action.”
