New Delhi: Several Air India flights were delayed at the IGI airport this afternoon due to a problem in the airline’s SITA server which was down for over an hour, sources said.
Airline officials say the server went down and affected Air India flights across the country, with operations primarily disrupted between 1:30pm and 2:30pm. DIAL officials however said the system had been restored with support provided to the airlines to ensure flight delays were kept to a minimum.
An Air India spokesperson confirmed the problem. “The server we use was down for a while, however it has been restored. We are still examining the extent of the delays,” said the spokesperson.
The departure timings of as many as 23 flights were affected and the delays owing to the software malfunction stretched from 15-30 minutes, an airline spokesperson told news agency PTI.
