Indore: Flyers at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport would soon have a new means of recreation. Authorities are in process to start radio service on airport premises to entertain flyers, who often get bored waiting at the airport for hours to catch a flight. Officials said that this service will include announcement about utility and flight related information as well as playing music.
Airport director Aryama Sanyal said that Airport Authority of India (AAI) has taken a decision to start radio service at 29 airports across the country. "From Madhya Pradesh, only Indore airport has been chosen," Sanyal told TOI. The list includes major airports like Chennai, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Mangalore, Goa, Pune, Guwahati, Calicut, Ranchi, Raipur, Kolkata, Trivandrum, Bhubaneshwar, Patna, Srinagar, Banaras, Jammu, Madurai, Dehradun, Udaipur, Jaipur and Lucknow among others
These airports have been chosen on basis of maximum passenger footfall. At Indore, this service is expected to start by September end. It will be a 24X7 service.
Detailing about the airport radio service, Sanyal said that it will be a prerecorded or curated music service which apart from music will also include announcement related to flight timings, delays etc through public announcement system. "Expression of interest has been invited from bidders with previous experience for conceptualization, development and broadcast of this service. We are hoping to start this service within four months," she said.
