A tale of missed flights and missing baggage

Mumbai: A day after only 10 of the 17 Australia-bound players of the Indian table tennis contingent could board the aircraft due to ‘overbooking’, Pooja Sahasrabudhe, a player who managed to board the flight, landed in Melbourne only to find her luggage missing.

Pooja was carrying one big suitcase, which was not loaded on the plane. She has now been told that the bag will arrive in Melbourne only on July 25 since Air India operates flights on alternate days. Fortunately Pooja was carrying her racquet and playing shoes in her carry-on luggage.

Pooja, who plays Liu Hsing-Yin (Taipei) on Wednesday afternoon local time in her first qualification match, will have to borrow a teammate’s India tee and play.
