Bird scare at Ahmedabad airport gets worse

The enthusiasm of Ahmedabad airport authorities to keep birds at bay seems to be waning. In the first seven months of the year, the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport witnessed bird hit incidents almost equal to the whole of last year and nearly double the number three years ago. What’s more, they have still not called for the periodic environment committee meeting that is held every three-four months to discuss issues.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has succeeded in reducing the number of bird hits in last few years on as well as around the 3.5-km-long runway of the airport. However, figures of this year indicate lackadaisical approach on part of the authorities.
